Queen of the Universe National School

Our Lady Queen of the Universe N.S. is a Catholic Primary school in Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow. We currently have 252 children enrolled from Junior Infants to Sixth class. Our school is mixed boys and girls from Junior Infants to First class and all girls from Second class to Sixth class. We also have two special classes for children on the Autistic Spectrum.

We have 18 teachers, 9 S.N.A’s, a secretary and a part time caretaker.

We hold six green flags awarded by An Taisce and were also were finalists in the Creative schools award. We also hold a plaque awarded by Science Foundation Ireland for Excellence in STEM education. In 2023 we were awarded the Biodiversity in Schools nature hero award and reached the final of Globe Ireland environmental awards with a project on air quality.  

The school competes every year in the Cumann na mBunscol Gaelic Gaems competitions and has won the Cumann na mBunscol football Division 1 in 2012, 2013 and 2017 and the Camogie in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Our school also is very proud of our biodiversity projects and include all classes in outdoor learning.
